to the OP, if you have the budget, i would get the D7000. best of both D3100 and D90. of course youll have to wait a little bit because i just went to a camera store looking for one and the lady said they arent getting it for a couple weeks

the D3100 like someone mentioned already will be limited lens-wise

Thank you phil but I just do not have the budget for a D7000. Maybe I will pick one up later on.

Default D90 vs. D3100

Is it true the D3100 has auto focus while recording HD Video ?

I was planning to purchase a D90 this Winter but now I don't know....

Nikon's 'auto focus' is still pretty crappy according to a few places I've read about it, Ken Rockwell's site was one of the places. Canon is well ahead of Nikon in DSLR video.

Nikon D600, D90, D70, N90s, FM2, Canon S3 1S, Panasonic FZ35; Nikon 18-105 VR, 28-70 2.8 Sigma, 35-70 Nikkor, 70-200 2.8 Sigma, 70-300 4-5.6 Sigma, 85 1.8D Nikkor, 55-300 4-5.6 Nikkor, Sigma 17-50 2.8.
