Default Potential D1X Metering Problem

Could somebody help me with my D1X metering problem?

I only use Nikkor and Voigtlander AI/S manual focus lenses with my D1X (513XXXX). Thus, I typically use the Apature Priority setting and Center Weight Metering when shooting.

However, I recently noticed that when switching the meter to Spot, the display inside the viewfinder would continue to show the Center Weight icon rather than the Spot (it's been a long time since using this setting and I recall seeing the Spot icon in the viewfinder...).

Indeed, when several test shots were taken under various light conditions using Spot metering, I discovered that the exposure levels to be exactly the same as Center Weight (Custom Setting is set at all diameters including average). This leaves me to conclude that this function is not working. But admit that AF lenses should also be tested also to fully test and confirm the function.

Have you experienced similar situation?

Your input to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

First, I'm not a 100 percent sure about what metering modes are allowed with a manual lens, although my impression is that you can do spot and center weight only. I only use auto lenses, and sometimes a scope, but with a scope I pay no attention to the metering.

However, my D1x did in fact break and I couldn't get spot metering. I had to bring it in to Nikon and they fixed it.
