Default Nikon D100

I have owned a Coolpix 5700 since they were first sold and have enjoyed using it. I moved from a Nikon F90 35mm SLR kit, and miss the expandability and speed of the SLR. I was put off by the price of a digital SLR when I bought the 5700 but I can afford the Nikon D100 since they have come down - has anyone got a view on whether this is the right camera to get back into true SLR phototgraphy?

I came from a F90 too - now I use D100. I recommend it and if you want to read a more deep critique ( non-technical pure experiences) - go to my website below!

Good luck!

I've used a D100 since June of last year and I'm a complete fan. Heartily recommended.

The other camera I considered was the Canon 10D. Canon may be a better option if you're thinking long term about big lenses. While some of the Nikon lenses are awesome optically they still lack any kind of image stabilisation at the high end. Although they are soon bringing out a 200-400 zoom VR I still think it will be a while before we see 500mm or 600mm Nikon VR.
