Default Nikkor Manual Lenses and D3200

I have inherited five manual focus Nikkor lenses:
50mm 1.4
50mm Micro
80-200mm 4.5
24mm 2.8
300mm 4.5

My question is whether I should purchase a D3200 to use with them. I know I will have to manually expose. Will they take advantage of the 24 MP resolution of the 3200?

My other option is to sell the Nikkors and keep using my Sony A55 with a similar group of auto lenses.

Another option, look at Sony A6000 or A7 with an adapter to use these lenses. Either camera is awesome, depending if you want DX or FX sensor.

D7000 may be the best bet!

I have a couple of older manual focus lenses for my Nikon... (one Nikkor 35-70 and a Makinon 135 f/2.8) and both are optically very useful indeed- provided you nail your focus- which isn't easy with a DX viewfinder...(use magnified live view if your subjects are static).
As for making use of 24mp- well, the older glass will be better than the usual kit lens offered that's for sure...!
To clarify- you have the Nikkors- but no body... and you have an A55- with or without similar lenses..?

I say keep an eye on eBay to see what those lenses are selling for, and if they're worth it, list them. My guess is that the 24/2.8 is the cream of the crop.
  • The lens is the thing.
  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.
