Default D500 Raw File Question

Is their an option to set Raw capture to dng or just NEF. Not sure if LR 5.7 can handle the NEF files from a Nikon or even the Nikon D500. Anyone know. I do not have LR CC just LR 5.7

Apparently, LR 5.anything won't open D500 RAW files. You can upgrade to LR 6 or download the free DNG converter to open your D500 files in your version of Lightroom.

See https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2138517 for more info.

Try Capture NX-D to take from camera then save to file or application. Capture NX-D comes free with Nikon cameras. Latest update is vers 1.4.1 with Picture Control Utility2 vers 2.2.0 Although on Windows 10, font and icons are very small even at largest allowable size on a 27" monitor.

Do to the number of shots I take on a weekly basis using the free convertor was taking me for ever before I could view and edit my shots. So in the interest of time moved to LR CC 2015.

If you use the DNG converter as your download software then all you have to do is point it to the files on your card and specify the destination on your hard drive. Then all the files are converted as they are downloaded from the card. When the download has completed all you have to do is go to work. In my opinion that is the best way to use the DNG converter.

I tired that too, but it added a significant amount of time when downloading 128GB of photos
