Default What is the mean by AF mostly written on Nikon Lenses?

I saw many times on Nikon Lenses "AF". I just want to know what it mean and what is the benefit of "AF"

It means the lens has "Auto Focus"- that means it focuses automatically prior to taking the shot- assuming you have the AF switched on of course...
The benefit is that it speeds up the whole photo taking process- focusing in a fraction of a second- as opposed to manually focusing yourself, twisting the focus mechanism.
