I have nothing but high praise for the Nikon 200-500mm which I use for aviation photography on a D800. Let me know your thoughts when you've had an opportunity to use it. I'm waffling between getting a D500 and a D7200 as a second body. I'd be interested in your impressions of the D500 compared to your D7100 (?).

Will do Jehan. I've had all three of the D7000 series and loved them.

Well, my gear arrived Tuesday! So excited! Been studying the manual and online about setting up this D500 for BIF before I go to the local lake tomorrow to try them out!
