So I have been living with a few small dust specs on my D70, but today a longer hair like one showed up..and stayed. So I called Best Buy, who I bought my camera and warrenty through. They said they had all the correct tools for cleaning the camera and do it all the time. I felt OK about it and took it in. They were done with it in an hour or so and then I looked through the view finder...full of "specs". I took a picture and could not see anything, but took it back in the store. They now have it and are "fixing it"

Did they just blow it with compressed air and blow the artifacts up into the camera?

I hope that they do not screw up my camera..

Did you ask them what work they carried out? It's entirely possible what you said happened - they simply blew compressed air and all the dust from the sensor went up onto the viewing screen above, marking your viewfinder. Hopefully there's no danger to your camera - just inconvenience to you.
