I am thinking of buying a Nikon D70 but I'm concerned about noise in the image. Does anyone think this image has an awful amount of noise in the sky?http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_...c_1365_nef.jpg

What a lot of us D70 owners have found is that while the Canon's 300D (DRebel)images are smoother, more saturated, and have less noise because of the ISO 100 the D70 is far more flexible (custom curves uploadable into the camera, flash exposure compensation, the ability to change the metering mode in auto modes, etc)and can deliver more detail. The noise is really not any big issue in that image. But if it is to you, there is always Noise Ninja or Neat Image.

Now when I make note about the flash compensation, etc., I understand that there is a hacked firmware for the 300D to enable these functions. But for myself, I would not ever take the chance on a hacked firmware. Never. The D70 has these functions as part of the basic package, not a hack.

Couldn't really see noise. The D70 will produce unacceptable noise (in my opinion) at ISO 400+.

Staying at 200 the noice is not noticable.

Nikon D70 has less noise in higher ISO settings.

At ISO 200 it is littlebit better than Canon 300D or 10D and sharper.

At ISO 100 Canon is better but lack of detail. D70 doesnt have ISO 100.

For now D70 with the Kit lens 18-70 DX is the best choice.

But, After Photokina it can change...We wait two more weeks and see what new products will be announced.New products are always better than previous models.

There are several sites to read the raviews of Nikon D70.
