There is a d50 kit at a Ritz camera near me for $549.99 Nikon D50 Digital SLR w/Quantaray 28-90mm F/3.3-5.6 Lens.... should i go for it or should i spend the little extra for the nikon brand lens... its $599.99 Nikon D50 Digital SLR w/Nikkor 28-80mm F/3.3-5.6 G Lens...

Buy the 18-55 kit...much better option. The $50 instant gift card helps and if you want, you can get a free Epson R320 printer.

if your gonna go through them, you could get the body for the same price, but that quantaray lens is gonna be pretty much crap. mb you could selll it for another 20 or 30 bucks eh?

Even if you decide to get another better lens later, it's still worth keeping the kit-lense 18-55mm, as a spare lense.

It may not be the best, but definitely very good for daily uses, especially indoor.

The most important merit is the light-weight - 200g only.
