Let me start by noting that I love my D70. I bought it about two weeks after its release. I found that it a a back focus problem but I didn't want to part with it for an adjustment which I figured they probably would screw up anyhow. In march, the camera died and it turns out there was a recall for the problem I was having. I sent it back through my retailer. They logged everything including complete camera condition and any concerns. After a six week wait, I got the camera back. No service report. Camera seemed ok. When I did start to test, I found that the focus was not modified. I found a great site that described the focus mechanism and how to adjust it - http://leongoodman.tripod.com/d70focuspart4.html. Well thanks to Leon. It took me 22 minutes to get perfect focus right down to F1.8 on my 50 mm lens.
