With limited wall space and the high cost of printing, I've decided that the target for my photographs will either be a Plasma HDTV (at full 1080 native resolution) or the Apple Cinema 30" LCD monitor. The HDTV is 2MP and the Apple is 4MP.

Given that all the Nikon DSLR models exceed those resolutions and that thecolor space(at least for LCD) is limited to 24 bits, am I going to see any difference between the D70s and the D200 when viewing my photos?

Obviously if I owned either of the above monitors, I could download some photos and try them out but we are not ready to purchase either one. And yes I know that higher resolution monitors (but not necessarily greater color depth) are in the future but I'm only interested in what I can afford to buy in the next 1-2 years. Those fabulous 8MP monitors are going to be out of my price range for a long long time.

I guess not much diff.

But you may experiment to find out by:

1. Prepare 2 images, preferably by cropping from larger images:
1600x1200 (~10MP) & 1280x900 (~6MP)

2. Resize them to 1024 x 768 (~4MP)

3. Compare them side-by-side on your current LCD (may need to scroll e.g. on a smaller 1280x1024 LCD)
