I am wondering why is the 17-70mm f/3.5-4.5 much more expensive then the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 ?

Reading the reviews they are both well quoted but they usually give a better result to the 18-135mm .

I have a feeling is shorter lens shorter errors vs longer lens more prone to distortions.

However think about it if your budget is limited and you want only one lens, then go with 18-135mm. Is not like as if the 18-135mm is bad. I use it and I find it pretty good.

Only a perfectionist would go the other way. Which is fair enough.

The 18-70 is a better made piece. You just have to think whther you are in for two lenses or one.

Honestly 18-135mm buys you some time before any upgrades, is not a bad lens but if it is results you are after go with 18-70mm
