Hi again. Back after a month of work. One month ago I was about to buy the Micro 105 VR (889$ CDN + tax). I rented one but was disappointed with the high amount of CA (green, purple). Some Google highlighted the fact that the older 105mm f/2.8D handled CA better. I found one for 475$ CDN. Almost ready to say "I do". Would someone go for an older type of lens? Is it the way to go? Lens' pairing with my faithful D50. Next in line is probably D90. I wanna do macro annd some portrait too. Thanks. Germain.

I would look at the Sigma 150 instead

-> Better AF motor than the old one, lower CA plus further stand-off: http://www.photozone.de/nikon--nikko...report?start=1

I have the pre-D version of the AF 105 and love it. The working distance is good for shy bugs and other such critters. I have a D90 and D300 so it's really a 150ish. I don't think you can go wrong with this lens. My father in law has the VR version and the VR is not very useful for closeup work.
