My friend wants to get a D60 as a second body, so I am thinking of getting the new D90 and selling him my D60 which I just bought in April. One of the biggest reasons being that I think I'd prefer the 11 focus points vs the 3. And the movie option is nice to and will bring me back to the days of the bridge cameras.

I've also been looking at the 18-200 for a while now, both Nikon and Sigma. I already also have the nikon 70-300VR which I really like. I bought the Sigma 50-500 last week, but I am going to return it and use the money for the new combo. I'll also try to sell the 18-55 VR that came with my D60 (BH told me they'd give me $75 about a month ago).

So the new combo would be

either Nikon 18-105 or Sigma 18-200

I'd like to go with the 200mm since I like the reach, but really, I already have that covered with the other lens. So saving $200 with the 18-105 kit lens probably makes more sense.

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Many thanks in advance,

The Sigma 18-200mm lens is OK, but if you can afford it, the Nikon 18-200mm VR is the much better choice in lenses for the Nikon D-90 camera.

Hi, I just bought the Sigma lens 18-200mm OS. I also have the Nikon 18-70mm that came with the D70, a Sigma 70-300mm, and a Nikon 35mm F2.0.

I did some testing, with same focal length and aperture using the Nikon 18-70mm and the Sigma 18-200mm OS. Honestly I recommend the Sigma 18-200mm, the quality is great given the price, and you can hardly see the difference when zooming at 100% with bothe lenses.

I have the Nikon D70, and am looking forward to buy the D90, but my main concern is:
"Is the Nikon D90 compatible with Sigma lenses, or does it have the same compatibility as the D40 and D60?".

Thanks for that advice. I am still considering that lens, so I am glad to hear it is good quality. I believe the D90 does not have the compatibility issues as the D40/60 do. I was able to auto-focus the Nikkor 35mm with it.
