I am noticing the focus rings on both sides of the tc are very loose and rattle when shaken.
I switch to manual and it does show shutter speed but not f stop, and still no AF? |

Angel, what is the maximum aperture of the lens you are using?

Angel,
What lens are you mounting to the TC? Is the lens compatible with TCs? There are various compatibility tables around. This one looks quite useful: http://blog.nikonians.org/archives/N...er%20Table.pdf If your lens has an aperture ring and is not set to the minimum aperture (highest f-number) the camera will displays the flashing Es. There might be a lock to hold the aperture ring in the correct position. |

Thanks guys,
I am using a D80 with a Tokina 80-200 f2.8 pro lens. The apeture ring is locked at f32. The lense works fine mounted w/o the tc. If I mount the tc only to the camera I also get the flashing F--??? I do noyt think this tc is AF? |

Angel, can you see the electric contacts on both sides (camera and lens)of the tc? if so it should be AF, otherwise it might be defective...

You are right it is AF, but it does not mount perfectly, I have to wiggle ever so slightly to make contact.

After cleaning the contacts, it does make a better connection, but not solid. The lense it top heavy and I needl to make sure it maintains connection. I bought it used from KEH, should I consider this item defective, or is this normal operation.

It should maintain a good electrical connection. If it does not I'd say it was defective.
I use a Signa 1.4x TC with a Sigma 100-300mm f/4 and it works without any problems. |

Angel, at this point I'd go for a return.
