Default Binoculars vs Camera Lens

When I look at a scene in the distance through binoculars, everything is in focus. If the scene is a group of buildings, they all seem to overlap each other. It is a strange view, but one I often wondered if it could ever be captured on film (or CCD).

But I just cannot ever seem to 'see' the same view through a camera lens.. or maybe I am not using the right one. It always appears that the central object is in focus, and everything else is out of focus. Even using the smallest aperature and greatest depth of field, never seems to yield the same view I have when using binoculars.

It is at all possible?
