i am looking at a 180mm nikon manual focus lens that has a P designation. What does tht mean?

I think that you will find that the P indicated that the lens will communicate with the electronic metering so you can set shutter speed and aperture from the information supplied by the bars in the viewfinder. Other manual lenses (my 500 mirror for example) give no information at all and I am flying blind.

I use the new MF 45P on my D1x/h and it gives the camera all the info, distance, f/stop, and useable with the SB-800 for flash.
