I use a D70 and a Sigma 18-200 DC lens. Since the this line of Sigma lenses are designed fordigital cameras, does the camera magnification factor still come into play? Is this lens, in 35mm terms, equal to a 27-300?

I just noticed this thread. Hopefully, you've figured it out by now.

Lenses for DSLR models will always show their actual focal length.

To see how they compare from an angle of view perspective to the same focal length lens on a 35mm camera, multiply the focal length by 1.52x for Nikon DSLR models.

So, your assumption that it's angle of view would be approximately equivalent to 27-300mm (as compared to the same focal length lens on a 35mm camera) is correct.
