well ive got my new d50

love it

trying to cruise for sub 200$ lens

found the tamron 28-200 for great price

sigma 28-200/28-135?

what do you seasoned pros suggest???

If you are going with a third party lens, go with Tonika or Tamron brands. "All around" is best accomplished with a f2.8 28-75 Tamron. You can probably get a used one on ebay around $200.00. Great camera choice, but a cheap lens will not produce the quality pics that this camera is intended to snap. Try to at least get a Nikkor lens. The 18-55 stock lens is a good lens and is very inexpensive.

I've quoted this many times. Look around for the old push/pull zoom 75/200 Nikon second hand. It is all metal and far better than the new 70/200 plastic lens. I still use it on my D2X for travelling since it is so light.
