I'm going to purchase a Nikon D50, and is confused whether to buy lens asOption1 or Option2 below. Cost wise both options are quite similar.

Option1: Buy Kit lens Nikon 18-55 and a Sigma 70-300 APO DG. This will give me a reach of 300 mm.

Option2: Buy Sigma 18-200. This will enable me to have single lens and so no sensor dust problem.

Appreciate any help.

First off, I dont' have these Sigmas. I have the Nikon 18-55 and Nikon 70-300 G. The difference between 200mm and 300mm is not much, though the 70-300 APO DG also has a better Macro feature than the 18-200.

Given all that, if the two packages you mentioned are priced the same, I'll probably take the one with 18-200. It just gives you more freedom to be more creative without the hassle of changing lens.

Good Luck!

I agree with Rey-

I have a Tamron 18-200mm lens on my D-50 and I really like it a lot. It saves a lot of lens changes.
