Default Laser Pointer/Flashlight to Help Focus 5700 In Low Light?

Does anyone have any experience with using a laser pointer (with a smily face or an arrow rather than just a point of light) or a small flashlight to facilitate focusing the Nikon 5700 in low light situations? If so, could you tell me about your experiences? Do either of these devices work well at helping the camera to focus? I'm very interested in the 5700 but before I purchase it, I want to know that there is a viable workaround to the autofocus issue in low light. Thanks.
