I put newly recharged nimh batteries in and after maybe a dozen flash shots it was already showing the reduced battery symbol. Is that typical or is there something that could be causing an abnormal battery drain? Thanks

How old are your NiMH batteries and how many times have they been recharged. They don't last forever, most are only good for 250-350 charges. Even if they haven't been charged that many times, if they're old they should be replaced. Just in the last two years we went from a maximum cell capacity of 1800mah up to 2700mah which makes a great deal difference in how long they last. And just recently we have seen the new Sanyo Eneloop, Uniross Hybrio and others which can hold a charge much longer when not being used.

See our battery page for lots of info and choices.
