Default Dropped 990

OK, someone dropped my CoolPix 990 on a recent trip. It resulted in the lens not being able to move and I just hear this clicking sound as the camera is trying to move it to focus.

I've taken a stab at taking it apart, but got only as far as the 2nd layer and gave up when I realized that the lens housing is buried pretty deeply. Do you think I should just forge ahead and see if something was just dislodged? Or should I give up and just get a new one?

i think is time to look foward. your investment in the fix would be better served in a more responsive uptodate model.
