I break everything. I resorted to 8 nimh batteries 3 chargers, a set of new alkalines as backup, a case, decent tripod (retail samsonite) and then the cameras just upped and died.
A gamble out to ebay, I had heard of nikon ,

bid on a used coolpix that had its original case cd, cables, and a free128 mb card...guaranteed no doa, why not. I have annhilated every camera totalling into 1000+ dollars for simple point and shoot. Got it in the mail, opened original box, found a small crack by battery cover, no big deal. Threw some batteries in, it ate the first charge in minutes, like my others, I knew it sat for awhile or flew in the belly of a plane. threw some more in, and away it went. I won't say what cheapskate price it sold for...and it works.
as there is no pasting an address here, I won't show the macro of gold wrapper on a peanut butter cup, just assume nikon.
I never bought used, and only accepted gifts. I will go used again. A tip: be sure it says "no doa" and cash refund in sale/bid wherever it is.
