Original 18-200- what's included?

I just purchased what was purported to be a new unopened 18-200mm VR. Not the newer version. All appeared to be in order but there was no lens pouch or lens hood included. I emailed the seller and he stated that these two items did not come with the older version. Is this true? I know the newer version includes these two items.
