Default CP 5700 with WC-E80 AND external flash - please help!

I'm using a Coolpix 5700 and on demand a non-Nikon external flash (which also works fine in TTL mode on my Nikon F301 using a TTL adapter). It works better than expexted. Sometimes problems arise, but most of them can be avoided by adequate settings (thanx to information from this board). So here's the question:

With wide angle converter WC-E80 pictures are in most cases underexposed. Is there a way to adjust flash exposure to overcome this problem? And is there any other reason than with WC-E80 the flash sensor is partially covered by the converter? If so (or not), any workarounds?

Appreciate your input,

shoot in either shutter mode or aperture mode instead of auto mode. do a test shot of what you're shooting at to get the correct setting

As for the WC-E80 vs internal flash problem, the only way to get around the internal sensor is to use an external flash.
