While skiing this year I found that the 5700 electronic view finder had a complete white-out for bright scenes. Depressing the shutter release half way helped but did not completely solve the problem. Is this a known problem? Is there a software upgrade?

Change the brightness of the view finder. When you change the lcd viewfinder, I believe it also changes the EVF.

You might want to use a polar filter. This should help. I have always worn sunglasses when sking in sunny conditions. My eyes hurt from the glare of the snow.
