Hi We just picked up a Nikon5700 on the weekend. There was nothing to update. The macro does everything my old telephoto did on our old Nikon SLR, had it since the 70s.

You should be very happy with your choice. It is very intuitive if you have worked w/ a Nikon SLR beore. Start with the auto features & check w/ the manual if it doesn't do the trick you need for a specific pic. I think you will be surprised at how good it is on auto. You will probably have to turn the flash off for jewellery etc. The colour is excellent.

concerning the PRO-PACK. did you mean 42nd Street Photo?
if the combined cost of the generic wide-angle/telephoto lenses is somewhere in the the neighborhood of $300+, then you shouldn't have ordered it. non-NIKON lenses for the 5700 aren't up to the same quality as NIKON lenses. also, the hidden cost of bundled things like microdrives tend to be more expensive than if you shopped separately elsewhere.
