I was wondering if I could mount the Olympus TCON17 1.7x teleconversion lens onto the Olympus 40-150mm lens.

The Olympus lens has a 58mm filter thread, and the TCON17 has a 55mm thread. Could I use a 58 -- 55mm step down ring to fit the TCON17 onto the lens? And would the step down ring be stout enough to support the weight of the TCON17?

Thanks for any advice.

Those type of lenses which you scew onto your regular lens will DAMAGE a lens that extends out of the lens housing like the kit lenses do. The kit lenses aren't designed to have any significant weight on them (besides a filter), and you'll wreck the plastic gears and the light duty motor.

I admit I had screw-on converter lenses on my C-700, and I did try them once on my E-300 kit lenses, but the SLR lenses just struggled to operated.

The only teleconverter (currently available) that you should use on the E-system is the Olympus EC-14 that goes in between the body and the lens:

If you're new to the camera, you may want to do some reading at:

Hallo !

I have used the converter on the Sigma 55-200, The Oly 40-150 and on the

Oly 50-200. I works without any problems on all. The best results was on the

40-150 kit lens. I don't know why but on the ED 50-200 the images were very

soft. ... Blur ?? On the kitlens I think there is no great difference, but it's hard to control.

The Sigma has to stop down to F11 and thats impossible unless using a tripod.
