I popped into the grounds of Barking Abbey tonight and spent 20 mins taking some pics - I think 9 of the 27 shots taken were ok'ish. Taken at ISO200/400/800, handheld, full manual, some slightly cropped, very minor USM in Photoshop after RAW conversion in Lightroom. I think i should have taken a tripod with me - some shots looked fine but were just too soft - shutter speeds at time were down to 1/8 or slower even at ISO800.

1. Abbey permiter wall

2. Stairs leading up to the entrance

3. The sunsets

4. Parts of the old Abbey remain and I think the church that currently sits within the grounds uses some of the orginial building.

5. The old front entrance doors - slightly cropped from the right and bottom.

6. Door hinge

7. Side of the Abbey/Church

8. Tombestones - ISO800, 1/20s f2.8

9. Broken Cross

:O :?

My favorites are 5 and 8. I especially like the darksombertoneof picture #8. Seems a fitting mood for a churchyard and tombstones. Donna

Some nice photos in there! Even at those slow ISO speeds. Must have one heck of a steady hand!!

Well, I shot alot of my shots with ISO400 &800 and I will honestly say, nothing beats a tripod for those slower speeds.

And just for the record, I have yet to get a handheld shot at 1600 that was even worth mentioning...
