I just wanted to test how close I could get with the ZD14-54 today and see whether you can consistently get goodish macro style shots.

Here's two of the better ones - take with window light:

100% crop:

Considering I was hand holding and shaking - no breakfast and the compositions a bit iffy on No.1 the 14-54 isn;t bad at all for "macro" type work. Both pics were shot in RAw and had a wee bit of USM applied in PSHOP.

Yes, it's amazing how good the 14-54 does as far as closeup focusing. About the only thing it lacks is the fast f2 aperture of the 50mm f2 Macro...
