I just got back from Asia and the word on the street is that the Replacement for the E-1 may be named the Olympus EP-1
Almost every one with connections with Olympus has indicated that this may in fact be the name of the new flagship camera. I very strong statement came on the heals of the impending release of a game called the Gods of War Olympus E3. The company that produced the game holds the lic. for the Name Olympus E3. So speculation that the next pro camera will be called the E3 is very much just speculation. Tom |

Yes and no. I find the small LCD too low resolution and dim to really know if the exposure was OK, and INFO does not provide a spectral graph, so those improvements would be welcome.
More megapixels would allow cropping... But, I am one of those people who would prefer to obtain the image in the camera and not in the digital darkroom....get it right the first time.... AND, the E-1 has such a beautiful and rich balance of colors compared to all other cameras, including Nikon DSLR and Canons, including other Olympus, that I feel the E-1 is possibly one of those accidents in which everything came out just right, and newer is not always going to be better. I hold my breath. The small megapixel count in the E-1 does not seem a problem in terms of resolution and noise - I get crisp even tack sharp images, and even in low light the dark areas don't disintegrate into a jumbled mess of jello colors like my Panasonic TZ-1 or Canon S-series... Panasonic is the worst - Sony's not much better... Sooo, I will always count on the E-1 for near perfection.... Chronosea |
