This combination lets you get really close and, at 300mm, maintain a respectable distance from your subject. I didn't take a tape measure to it, but it's a very nice combination. I used it last night in a couple images for a friend who wanted some pictures of her orchids. These were shot with an FL50 flash bounced off the ceiling..

Your series of images using the 70-300mm , along with all the otherssubmittedby fellow forum members convinced me to get one.It came in this afternoon and I just can't wait to use it in the morning.

Thanks for sharing all the pics.

BTW, for those who are contemplating purchasing a lens, you might consider Amazon.com.I called our local camera shop and was told they were out of stock and would not be able to confirm a ship date.I ordered one on Amazon yesterday and it arrived today- even though I asked for 2 day delivery(which was 11.50). All told the bill came to 390.00US. Can't ask for any better service.

regards, :|
