I just recieved my free HLD-4 battery grip from Oly and I'm pretty grateful for recieving something from them, although lots of nice and useful fw updates would be really handy as well.

Ok. on a serious note I've had the grip out of the box and as I had thought before I placed my "order" I don't think I'll be using it often or if at all. It's light, can take 2 BH-L1 or 6 AA batteries which is pretty useful, is pretty well made but for me it just makes the whole camera setup look and feel just way too big. I also find the ergonomics on the grip a wee bit uncomfortable but hey that could well be just me. I'll keep it in my bag just incase I ever do want or need it but I' think I'll stick to just carring a couple of spare BHL1's in my pocket.

It can't take AA batteries....... I know it says so, but I guess it comes under 'product specification may change without notification' or some such clause. This problemwas noted when the E3 was first released, the camera's batt indicator showing red if you try to load a set of AA's, of any type.

I don't think I will be using my HLD-4 grip much either. I'm not a fan of grips, but the HLD-4 is very uncomfortable in normal use, but I can forgive it that if the vertical release button is needed under difficult conditions every now and again.
