FYI, this lens was reviewed in the latest issue (December) of Pop Photo. It is supposed to be introduced in the future with an Oly mount, which would make it a 140-400 (eq.) f/2.8 lens, selling for maybe $800 USD.

So on paper it would compete well with the Oly 50-200 f/2.8-3.5 (100-400mm eq.). If you follow Pop Photo's lens test reviews and read between the lines, they rate this lens as decent but not terrific. But comparing their detailedlens tests, the two lenses are pretty close. The Oly is $950USD and slower at the long end, so the Sigma may be an alternative worth considering if you want a faster zoom in that FL range (and assuming they do release it in the Oly 4/3 mount).

However, many of us are skeptical about the overall quality of Sigma lenses and personally I can tell you that the Oly 50-200 f/2.8-3.5 is a very good lens.

As I said, FYI.
