Default [pics] Australian King-Parrots young male & female

Another from Maroondah Reservoir in Healsville

A young adolescent female King-Parrot. This juvenile parrot is identified by the brown plumage on the chest & throat, as well as the brown through the beak. The female of this species has green plumage throughout the head & neck.

I was quite pleased with how this image turned out considering the available light & very slow shutter speed. SHe let me get pretty close!

A young adolescent male King-Parrot. This juvenile parrot illustrates the males transitional plumage from green to the magnificent flame-scarlet colouring of the head & chest.
