Along this line, here's something interesting: Penn Camera is the group of B&M stores that have been servicing the pro photographers in the Washington DC area since 1953 - yep, over 5 decades. (With the news media here, there are a lot of pro togs which is probably why they're still in business.)

So if you go to their web store and look for DSLRs they break them down into three categories: Professional, Advanced, and Entry Level. Here is their Pro list:
