I have been using my E-300 for 4 weeks now taking about 300 pictures and learning the menus. I bought an extra battery but I have yet used it. Is this battery ever going to die in the camera? How does everyone elses battery hold up?

You're right, the battery holds up very well. For best longevity you should probably switch it out to the other one occasionally and not let the first battery level go down too low. For lots of good information on the care of lithium batteries, bookmark the Battery University.

the battery in my e300 didn't need a charge for nearly 3weeks and well over 500 photos about 30% with the flash.
