I've got the E500 and the 2 lense kit (14-45 & 40-150). Attending several conerts one of which is CMA Fest in Nashville next month. Modest seats row seven in front of stages but that still a modest distance. I'd like to get nice upclose shots of the performers and I've played around with the 40-150 taking shots at max distance. We've alot of deer the enjoy the alfalfa in our fields so I can practice distance shots. I suppose it's my lack of knowledge in actually knowing the technical side of photography that doesn't give me the results I'm looking for, really happy with the camera so I'm looking for some advice. I don't have a huge budget so buying a $800 to $1k+ lense isn't really an option.

Is there other alternatives?
Is there post processing to be done? I see sample photos where the subject has been cropped. When I take a shot of a deer at distance (maybe 50-100 yards) I get a pretty wide field, when wha tI want to do is focus in on the single critter. I've tried cropping the subject in photoshop and enlarging it (which is what I thought digital zooms did) but that seems to just blur the image.

So yeah... newbie here probably trying to do something the equipment won't do. I did look at the EC14 1.4X TC teleconverter. I'd consider that with the 40-150 if it'll get me closer to what I'm wanting.

Thanks for any feedback....
