How to tweak your Olympus OM-D E-M5 to shoot sports by Jim Huffman

I found the experience described useful.

There is also a tip on how to tweak the OM-D EM-5 specifically to toggle on and off the rear view LCD to increase battery life. As I understand it ( not personally owning an EM-D ) the EVF comes on when you put your eye up to it but otherwise the LCD is on. Pretty neat but the back and forth between LCD and EVF apparently drains the battery faster. With the trick described the button next to the EVF toggles between the EVF and LCD much like the button on the VF-2 does. Sounds like it would be useful especially for those who prefer never to use the LCD.

I await "The Voice of Reason" chiming in on this one

I never use the back LCD to shoot but find it convenient to see the back LCD info at once when I take the camera down from my eye so I choose to leave auto switching on most of the time. I do have auto review turned off so going to the next shot is very fast.
