It looks like a nice detailed shot in strong sunlight.

Looks like the M. Zuiko 75-300 is a little sharper than the 4/3 70-300mm. Very nice shot for sure.

I agree. And I'm jeolous of how close the Osprey appears. I've got lots of Ospreys in my neighborhood, but their nests are all so high up that I can never get that close!

Amazingly sharp considering the 2x crop. If you didn't mention it I wouldn't have known it.

My 70-300 packed it in about a month ago
the AF will not work, I have no idea why
it was not dropped and I get the same AF issues with the 70-300 on my E 520
there goes a great Macro Lens

Reviewing some shots the 75-300 is sharper at 200mm and up compared to the 70-300. 70 to 200mm I cannot see a difference

Very very nice Fred.

Possibly dumb question: is there a difference between doing a 2x crop in-camera and just cropping later in post?

The camera re-samples the image back to the original resolution when you use the 2x Digital TC. When I crop in Adobe Camera Raw I will sometimes do something similar...

really nice detail on the eye and overall a great shot, looks like the bird is getting ready to fly the coup

p.s. sorry to hear about the loss of your 70-300, I'm surprised you didn't opt for another one.
