....in the SmugMug system, when creating a gallery there is a radio-button option for 'sharpening'. I've never set that option on, maybe I will to see what the result might be.

Elements 8 is the culprit

the first is the SOOC jpg just resized for posting
the second is my post Elements 8 " Save for Web "
I use Save for web because it lets me pick the quality and file size
But in this case it butchers the image
Save for web also strips the EXIF data
