Default C740 SHQ or SHQ 3:2 Ratio

What are the differences and advantages in shooting SHQ vs SHQ 3:2 ratio. As I understand it, setting the camera at 3:2 ratio is better if you are printing a 4x6 photo. Which of the 2 is better to have the camera set on? Not knowing if you will print any of the pictures.
I am following other posts recommendations and shoot only in SHQ mode, but I am not sure if I should use the 3:2 setting. Please advise.

By default, the camera records at a 3:4 ratio, which is the same as your monitor. If you choose to print a 4x6 of a 3:4 ratio image, the image must either be cropped or stretched. Cropping may ruin your framing and stretching would leave a noticable distortion, so the 3:2 ratio would be better for printing. However, less pixels are recorded in the image (the camera simply crops for you) so the image is now slightly less suitable for viewing on a monitor. If you're picky about your framing and intend to print them, use the 3:2. I have the c700 which doesn't give me a choice (it's always 3:4) but I tend to leave extra space around the subject so this has never been a problem for me.
