Default Replace C-2040Z with C-4000 or C-5050?

I've had my 2040 for a couple of years, and it's been terrific. In fact, I now hardly use my 35mm Nikon SLR or my APS Canon ELPH. But, if the digital is going to be my main camera, I want higher resolution images, so I can enlarge them at higher quality and be able to crop more. Time to upgrade and sell the 2040 on Ebay.

The question is: Should I go all the way (5050) or part way (4000)? The difference in price is $575 vs. $350. My feeling is that doubling the resolution should be enough but, on the other hand, since I'm upgrading, why not go for the current top-of-the-line?

What do you all think... worth the extra $225? (I could spend that on a tiny Sony DSC-U30 to keep in my pocket, retiring the ELPH permanently.)

The features of the C5050 make it worth the extra money:

1. 5mp
2. moveable lcd
3. better lens for low light shooting.
4. focus assist lamp
5. movie with sound
6. mount for external flash

If nonw of these elements are required by you, then purchase the C4000.
