Default c2100 flash.. not that bad

I am normally an outdoor sports snapper and rarely use the camera indoors

However about a week ago I was at a pub 70s night (in england) and took a load of pics and all with flash on the c2100 and was more than pleased with the results...

Pics here of the night

Whats the infra red beam come on for?

Hi TonyG

Yes, the 2100uzi flash is pretty good.

You have adequate lighting even without flash in your collection.

If it was really dark, you may need to boost ISO for the photos
you take.

Also, if you take closeups of folk's faces, I find that a minus 1.3-1,7 exposure gives you a better exposure and highlights are not "blown".

Two cents

The effective flash range is about 9 feet, more than a lot of other cameras. It is a pretty good built-in flash! The orange light that comes on when you take a flash picture is a autofocus assist lamp. If there isn't enough available light for the camera to focus, it will come on automatically and provide enough light to allow the focusing system to operate properly and set the proper exposure.

To see just how nice this feature is, try taking a few pics in total darkness indoors. Just make sure there is a subject for the AF assist lamp to reflect off of, and that your subject isn't more than 9 feet away. Let us know how you like the results!
