Actually, that's the only thing that makes the C-750/755's manual focus usable at all, IMO. Even on a tripod I've never had any luck at eyeballing manual focus using the center "enlarged" portion of the screen. Having the distance scale makes it usable--assuming you're not in any hurry .:O
