Default Questions about the WCON-07C and TCON-17C for 5060

I have had the C-5060 for several months, bought it as a camera that would challenge me to grow in my knowledge of both photography and digital imaging. So far I am very pleased with my purchase. I am now considering buying two accessories, the WCON-07C and TCON-17C.

I am well versed in digital through my work in Photoshop but am very new to non-point and shoot cameras. The following quote gives specifics on these two accessories "Their focal length multipliers are 0.7x and 1.7x, respectively, which translates into EFL of 19 mm and 187 mm".

How does this translate? What actual benefit could one obtain from using these lense attachments? Are they worth the money? They are available from 17th Street Photo for $120 each, with the required adapter for an additional $30.

I would appreciate any advice.

If you watch Ebay you can pick up scuffed box products for much less, sold by OlympusAmerica.

Both lenses are very good lenses. With the WCON added, you get a very good wide-angle shot (~17 mm in 35 mm terms) with some zoom capability through mid-range. Similarly, with the TCON, you get a good mid-range telephoto capability with zoom from about mid-zoom out to full telephoto zoom. If you're looking for more wide angle or added telephoto capability, either lens is a worthy add to your tool kit.

Check Pemaraal On-Line ( http://www.b-300.com/index.html ) for prices. While I did not see any lenses for the C-5060, they are very responsive to e-mail questions and requests for quotes. They also have some photo comparisons to show differences in telephoto lenses. I purchased both of my Olympus add-on lenses there and was very pleased with the transactions.

The Filter Connection ( http://www.2filters.com/ ) is also a well respected site for non-Olympus lenses. It's well worth the check out also.

Happy shooting.
