Default 2100UZ

My 2100UZ sn 117725414 appears to have died.
When switching on the camera is slow to initialize and when looking through the viewfinder and zooming, the Indicator moves from wide to Tele but the image doesn't change size. The image is out of focus except for one point.
Is this a known problem and can it be fixed by Olympus ?

important question: Can you hear the zoom motor? Does it turn on?
If yes, somebody familiar with fine mechanics should be able to fix it with the help of two explosion diagrams, which can be downloaded from the Yahoo UZI forum.

Hi David,

I am sure Olympus can fix it...but you are probably looking at
$200 at least plus shipping to fix it.

I would contact Olympus tech support directly.

Good luck

I had the same problem, and fortunately Olympus fixed my camera under warranty. Noticing that the zoom motor isn't coming on when you engage the switch is a big tip. The problem was a defective Wide/Tele zoom switch, NOT the motor. Olympus can fix it, and should be able to provide you with an estimate of the cost of the repair.

Hi, i've been repairing the SDS (Sudden Death Syndrom) problem with the C-2100 for quite a few people already. I usually charge $75.00 plus shipping charges for the repair. If interested you can contact me at repaircamera@yahoo.com.
