I have a veryvery basic camedia olympus D-520. I take very good care of it, and nothing traumatic has happened to it recently. But for some reason, it won't let me take pictures anymore. It will turn on, I can view pictures, and it goes through the motions of taking a photo, and then just shuts off. Any ideas why this is happening? Am I going to have to send it in for repairs?

Having owned a D-520 a few years ago, I may be able to help you. Mine did a few strange things during he time I owned it, like the date and time resetting to the factory default sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. The Olympus tech support response was to remove the batteries overnight to reset the processor. Your cam might be stuck in some mode that needs to be "rebooted". Try it first. Also, are you certain your batteries are still good? Your problem sounds like something that could be caused by weak (not dead) batteries.
